Gamers for Humanity is sponsoring a Holiday Game Drive to benefit the people of the Pine Ridge Reservation.

The counties that make up the Pine Ridge Reservation of the Oglala Lakota people are, along with two other South Dakota reservations, the poorest counties in the United States (2000 US Census). This is third-world poverty, far beyond what you will see in some of the worst inner cities. It's hard for most of us to even understand.

• 80-90% unemployment
• per capita income of $4,000
• 80% alcoholism
• 8x the average diabetes rate
• 2x the average suicide rate
• 4x the average teen suicide rate
• 3x the infant mortality rate
• only Haiti has a lower life-expectancy in the Western Hemisphere

Re-Member is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people living on the Pine Ridge Reservation. They accomplish their mission through home repair, counseling and services, bunk bed building, and generally advocating for people who cannot do so for themselves.

Our Holiday Game Drive is a simple thing, but the simplest of things can have significant impacts. They will be able to distribute these games to children and families in need of the bonding and education that games can bring, and help bring a little more light to some darkened lives.
