From Gamers For Humanity:
Donations Needed for New Orleans
Hello friends and supporters. Our annual week of work in New Orleans is fast approaching, and we have unfortunately discovered that our volunteering plans have fallen through. As I and a number of our friends in New Orleans scramble to find work for our volunteers, it's becoming apparent that the volunteer opportunities available will likely require funding on our part.
One possibility, for example, is to continue to help Bishop Ella O'Neal restore her former home and food pantry in the Upper Ninth Ward. The building needs to be painted, the floor needs to be shored up in several places, and she needs her gas turned back on before winter (it does get cold in New Orleans, believe it or not). These projects, however, will require not only our volunteer hours and effort, but also money for the materials - paint and painting supplies, lumber, floor jacks, and the like.
A couple of our prospective volunteers, we know, could also use some assistance affording the trip this year. They can give a week of their time, but they could use some help with food and housing.
And so we're turning to you, our excellent supporters. We have only two weeks before we leave on March 12th. In that time, we'd like to raise $500 for these expenses. And I'm confident that you can help us do it.
It doesn't take much from each person. All you have to do is not assume that someone else will take care of the whole amount, and see if you've got $10 or $20 you can spare.
You can use the link above to donate securely via Paypal directly from this email to our special New Orleans 2011 Fund, or you can visit our donations page to do the same. If you're the type who doesn't like to trust links in emails (understandable), our email for Paypal is

Any amount you can spare will help us continue to help a great city and its people continue to recover. We hope you can find your way to helping support us in our original mission.
Please donate - your money will go a long way, and we need your help.
