Joshua LH Burnett (Assistant Creative Director)

When Joshua LH Burnett was but a young boy, his parents let him stay up very late on Sunday nights to watch Doctor Who and Monty Python’s Flying Circus on PBS.  This, combined with his obsessive love of Superfriends and Tron, had an adverse effect on the boy’s mind, an affliction he’s still recovering from to this day.  When he was twelve, Joshua was introduced to role-playing games through an RPG about ninja turtles.  He’s been tweaking systems and designing games ever since.

After impulse-buying a copy of M-Force at a game store in Toledo , OH , Joshua fell in love with QAGS.  He spent the next couple of years worming his way into the heart of Hex Games, working his way up from obsessed fan, to Knome of the Year, to Assistant Creative Director. Joshua made his Hex Games debut illustrating Qerth: Apprentice Level Rules, and has since gone on to illustrate books like The Adventures of Sindbad and write supplements such as The Dungeon of Moderate Annoyance and QAGS: Rocket Jocks.

Joshua is still trying to escape the suburban sprawl of north-central Ohio , where he lives with his wife and son. You can find out more about what Josh is currently up to at his Stegosaurus Games blog.

Leighton Connor (Creative Director)

Ever since he was a boy growing up in southeastern Kentucky , Leighton Connor has been a fan of rules-light RPG systems.  This could be because he sincerely believes role-playing should be a collaborative storytelling process, or it could just be because he’s terrible at math.  Either way, Leighton co-created QAGS (the Quick Ass Game System) with Steve Johnson in 1997.  Since then Leighton has worked as either a writer or an editor on every Hex Games product. As Hex's Creative Director, Leighton is responsible for reviewing submissions, scheduling releases, and overseeing writers, artists, and editors.  Leighton lives in Ohio with his loving wife Alice.  They are both Geminis, and both allergic to cats.  In their spare time they like to watch TV shows on DVD.

Ian Engle (Outreach Director)

Not so long ago, Ian Engle was just another Knome. Ok, not just any Knome--he was one of the the hardest working Knomes in the country. After a few years of seemingly attending every damn gaming convention in the midwest, Ian was made Outreach Director and put in charge of running the Knome program and spreading the word about Hex.

Ian is also writes, using his knowledge of Arabic history and culture to write QAGS Sinbad and its supplements.

Steve Johnson (Operations Director)

Steve Johnson grew up in a dry county in western Kentucky . After determining that standing around in the cold waiting to kill an animal wasn't much fun, he tried the other recreational activities available to him--driving around in circles, stealing road signs, and playing RPGs.After getting the hell out of western Kentucky, Steve continued to play games, but got tired of spending hours making characters and preparing for games. To solve this problem, he and Leighton Connor created QAGS, the Quick Ass Game System and founded Hex Games. Since then, Steve has been somehow involved with nearly every product Hex Games has released.

After driving a cab for ten years, Steve moved back to western Kentucky where he now works in the exciting, fast-paced world of PLASTICS! He also does freelance writing for a local alternative magazine and numerous web sites and watches a lot of movies. You can visit Steve's personal web site at www.kingyak.com.

Carter Newton (Marketing Director)

Carter Newton grew up in exurban Nashville, moved to Lexington, KY, and wrote a few stories.  He got a degree in history, failed to get into grad school, and wrote some more stories.  After a series of misadventures, he returned to central Kentucky where he wrote some material for M-Force, got a MBA, and wrote some stories so he wouldn’t have to work on Colin Thomas Presents: RASSLIN’.  He currently lives in Nashville with his wife Michele, works as a spreadsheet jockey, and is starting to suspect that his role with Hex might be the most meaningful work he does.
